As of thirty-seven years ago, upon the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution under the leadership of the Father of Islamic Revolution, late Imam Khomeini (May his soul rest in peace), the sacred Islamic system replaced the despotic Pahlavi regime.

Throughout the post-revolution years, the revolutionary people of Iran have cast their votes once a year, in average, and have taken part in the different affairs of the country from the referendum on establishment of sacred Islamic system; to parliamentary, Assembly of Experts, and presidential elections. The sweet taste of independence and honor has been attained due to the steadfastness of a nation, who has firmly stood up against the excessive demands of hegemonic powers.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with tens of thousands of people of the city of Najaf Abad, delivered a keynote speech on the necessity of vigilant participation of people of Iran.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution greeted the people of Najaf Abad, and named them as the prime examples of revolutionary, faithful, and loyal men and women throughout all phases of the Islamic Revolution. Referring to the steadfastness and devotion of the combatants of the city of Najaf Abad, who attended the warfronts throughout the 8-year Sacred Defense, the Leader of Islamic Revolution noted that ‘we should continue our efforts and should still carry out Jihad. The scenes have changed; but the principle of Jihad remains as important and significant as ever. If we hand over this duty and responsibility to the next generation, we have carried out and fulfilled our obligation.’

Furthermore, the Leader of Islamic Revolution referred to the anniversary of martyrdom of the venerable daughter of Prophet Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny), Hazrat Fatemeh (SA), noting that: “These days, the Commander of Faithful, Imam Ali (Peace be upon him), with a saddened heart, bids farewell with his beloved wife. Although Imam Ali is deeply saddened, he maintains his indomitable resolve and hard work. This teaches a lesson to all of us. At times, we are deeply saddened. Such events take place in our social and personal lives. But, one should maintain his unflinching determination. Steps should be firmly taken. There are sorrows which shatter the mountains, but cannot shatter the faithful. One should continue to cover the righteous path.”

Based on Islamic narrations, Hazrat Fatemeh either attained martyrdom 75 days or 95 days after the demise of Prophet Mohammad. According to history, whenever Hazrat Fatemeh met his infallible Father, Prophet Mohammad, the Prophet stood up, kissed her hand, and said that: “Fatemeh is part of me. Whoever gladdens her; has gladdened me; and whoever saddens her; has saddened me.”

The Leader of Islamic Revolution further referred to two recent important elections in Iran, noting: “The Iranian nation, through participating in elections, stands up against the enemy.”

The Leader of Islamic Revolution noted that despite all the pressures, unjust sanctions, and the evil propaganda campaign against Islamic Iran, the enemy failed to obstruct people’s allegiance with the sacred Islamic system, which in turn shows the grandeur of the Islamic Revolution and Iranian nation. The Leader of Islamic Revolution added that whoever is interested in the honor of Islamic Iran, should take part in these elections.

In further remarks, the Leader of Islamic Revolution mentioned the ploys of enemies for discrediting elections in Iran, noting that: “In the early years of Islamic Revolution, the enemy tried to pretend that there are no elections in Iran. However, elections were held before the very eyes of the international community. Thereafter, the enemy tried to obstruct people’s participation in elections. But, turnout in elections increased every single time. In the next step, the enemy made strenuous efforts to somehow persuade people that their cast votes are useless and the result of elections have been pre-determined. But, experience has shown to the Iranian nation that their resolve and choice is what matters in the fate and destiny of the community.”

The Leader of Islamic Revolution went on to note now that the previous plots of the enemies failed to obstruct the participation of people; the foes chose another approach, which was to display two bogus poles in the scene of elections. The Leader of Islamic Revolution said that ‘elections resemble a competitive scene, in which competition is a natural process. However, this competition is not tantamount to enmity and division. But, the enemy tried to somehow display this natural competition as the sign of formation of two bogus poles among people.’

The Leader emphasized: “In Islamic Iran, there is only the two poles: Islamic Revolution, and the ones who have remained from the era of domination of Global Arrogance, and their co-thinkers, who do not maintain a good relationship with the Islamic Revolution. However, the overwhelming majority of Iranian people are revolutionary and strongly support the sacred Islamic system and the Founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, late Imam Khomeini (May his soul rest in peace).”

Elaborating on the new approach of the enemy against the Iranian nation, the Leader of Islamic Revolution noted: “The enemy pretends that in Iran, some support a parliament which backs the government, and another group support a parliament which doesn’t back the government. Meanwhile, the fact is that the nation wants a parliament which is familiar with its duties, and knows its constitutional obligations; a parliament which is committed, religious, and courageous, and is not scared of the US; a parliament which wants the progress of the country and believes that the development and growth of the country is tied to the scientific upbringing of the talented youths of this country and nation.”

The Leader of Islamic Revolution, in another part of his keynote speech, referred to the danger of infiltration, pointing out: “The Americans, in the post-nuclear talks’ era, hatched a plot for Iran, and another plot for the region. They know who has stood firm against their evil aims in the region. An infiltrator is not necessarily someone who has received money to infiltrate into an organization. At times, an infiltrator is not even aware of his role.”

Furthermore, the Leader of Islamic Revolution went on to refer to some of the experiences of Iranian nation about infiltration, emphasizing that people and officials should remain vigilantly cautious in this regard.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution emphasized whenever enemy tries to cause division by supporting a candidate or current, announcement of resentment toward the enemy is a must.

In further remarks, the Leader of Islamic Revolution citied late Imam Khomeini as saying that whenever the enemies praises you, you should cast doubt on your behavior and deeds; and should find out what mistake have you made. The Leader of Islamic Revolution underlined that these remarks of late Imam are the instructions of Islamic Revolution, and ‘we should stand up against the enemies, with an indomitable resolve, and open eyes.’

The Leader of Islamic Revolution underscored that: “The terms hardliner and moderate are rooted in the political rhetoric of the enemies of Islamic Revolution. The Leader emphasized that the sacred religion of Islam supports moderation, while noting that the moderate path is the righteous path which has not been derailed to left or right.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution added that in view of foreign powers, hardliners are those who are more committed to the revolutionary path, and a moderate is one, who submits to the excessive demands of the US, and Britain.

Furthermore, the Leader of Islamic Revolution called on domestic currents not to use enemy’s rhetoric.

In further remarks, the Leader of Islamic Revolution noted: “Despite enemy’s strenuous efforts, God Almighty has considered the ultimate victory for the Iranian nation and this country, and God will defeat your enemies.”
