Iran’s Successful Surgical Strike, A Sample of Things to Come

The Islamic Republic once again gave a demonstration of its defence capabilities to safeguard the peace and security of the nation and to avenge the recent act of terrorism against the Iranian people by firing a barrage of ballistic missiles on bases of the cowardly terrorists in Syria under the virtual protection of the super-terrorist, the US.

The following is a Viewpoint Column that appeared in this regard in Iran’s English language daily Kayhan International on Tuesday October 2 titled: “Iran’s Successful Surgical Strike, A Sample of Things to Come.” 

Kayhan International wrote: “Monday midnight’s highly successful missile-drone operation by Iran against terrorist bases in Syria near the eastern Euphrates town of al-Bu Kamal, close to the Iraqi border, in retaliation for their cowardly act of terrorism during a military parade in Ahvaz on September 22, is being talked about as a bitter sampling of the terrible fate awaiting perpetrators of last month’s tragedy in the southwestern Iranian city that claimed the life of 26 mostly civilians including a 4-year old boy.

“Code-named “The Muharram Strike”, the surgical operation by the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) caught by surprise the terrorists and their masters in the US and in certain Persian Gulf states.

“According to reports six medium-range ballistic missiles of the Zulfeqar and Qiyam categories were fired with precision from mobile underground launching pads in Kermanshah in western Iran at targets 570 km away, taking a heavy toll of the Saudi-US-backed terrorists.

“At the same time drones dropped their deadly cargoes on selected targets of both the takfiris and the so-called al-Ahwaziya terror outfit, many of whose ringleaders were killed or seriously injured, thanks to IRGC’s precision strikes following intelligence gathered by Iran. 

“The liquid-fueled 800-km range Qiam which carries a payload of 700kg explosives and the 750-km range Zulfeqar, are part of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s formidable missile defence arsenal that should give second thoughts to any would-be aggressor.”

Kayhan International took note: “The fact that the Iranian surgical strike was in an area frequented by the illegal presence of the US military forces in the Dayr az-Zawr Governorate, ought to be a warning against any mischievous move by the uninvited Americans, who have been served notice by the government of Syria to immediately leave.

“The US military presence in Syria is a clear violation of the UN Charter concerning the sovereignty of an independent member state of the World Body.

“Last year, the IRGC had mounted a similar surgical strike on terrorist bases in Dayr az-Zawr to avenge the Daesh-claimed attacks that martyred 18 people and injured 50 more in Tehran.

“On September 8 this year, the IRGC had also given a glimpse of its military and intelligence-gathering prowess by flattening through missiles and drones the headquarters of two Iranian terrorist outfits in northern Iraq in retaliation for their cross border acts of terrorism.

“Iran has every right to carry out such defensive operations against those indulging in acts of terrorism against the Iranian people, and on no account will curb its inalienable right to further develop ballistic missile technology, which is essential for not only the stability of the country but for the peace and security of the entire region.

“Situated in a strategic region which has unfortunately been destabilized by the state terrorism of unrepresentative and repressive regimes which have no historical roots, neither geographical definitions, nor political or cultural cohesion, and like the illegal Zionist entity were created by Britain last century, the Islamic Republic, ever since the grassroots movement of the Iranian people overthrew the British-installed and US-backed Pahlavi potentate in 1979, has been the sole stabilizing factor and beacon of hope for this part of the Muslim World, which Global Arrogance greedily covets because of its rich hydrocarbon resources.”

According to Kayhan International: “If not for the prudent policies of Iran in the face of the most stringent sanctions imposed by the Great Satan, the people of this region who are being slaughtered almost daily by Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Yemen, by the Zionists in Palestine, and by the takfiris in Syria, would have long been enslaved by devilish elements.

“In other words, Iran shoulders immense responsibility and no account should it yield to the pressures of its enemies, who love to see the Islamic Republic totally disarmed, while they are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars of sophisticated weaponry into the rootless reactionary regimes of the region, which wrongly think they can prolong their precarious existence by recycling their oil-wealth to the US coffers.

“No, the US, which is not sure of its own survival, cannot guarantee their survival.

“Thus, as part of its Islamic duty, Iran once again asks the repressive minority regimes which on the instigation of the US are engaged in hostile actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran and are destabilizing regional countries through terrorists, to desist from their un-Islamic actions.

“God forbid, if another act of terrorism were to occur against Iran then the retaliation will definite create a doomsday scenario for the perpetrators and their backers, whoever they are.”
