Today is the 5th of this blessed month, the birth anniversary of the Survivor of the Tragedy of Karbala, whose unique jihad against tyranny was waged through the power of prayers and supplications to the One and Only Creator of the universe. The day is rightly marked in Iran as “Rouz-e Azadagaan” or the Day of the Freedmen – a reference to the Iranian POWs that returned from imprisonment in Iraq following the end of the 8-year war imposed by the US on Iran through Saddam’s repressive regime.
