In Presence of the Sun (60)
This episode, like a couple of the previous ones, will be dedicated to the status of sciences and acquisition of knowledge in the view of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The scientific progresses of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been dazzling for the past decades. The sanctions illegally imposed by the US-led Global Arrogance further stimulated the bright talents of Iranian youths to turn the country into a pioneer of scientific fields in the region and the world. Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said, “Our scientific progress for the recent decades is a reality. Some didn’t believe this; some even denied it. That we have had 13-fold the average global growth of scientific speed is true.”
On April 9, 2006 a piece of news astounded the world and that was Iran’s access to the advanced nuclear technology. While just a handful of countries have gained access to the technology, the news of Iranian scientists and experts’ access to the new generation of centrifuges startled the so-called big powers. With the announcement of this news and confirmation of it by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Islamic Republic was enumerated among the nations owning the Uranium enrichment technology. April 9 was named as the National Day of Nuclear Technology in Iran and celebrations were held across the country. Leader of the Islamic Revolution said in this regard, “Today one example of the astonishing works of the youths of this country is this very enrichment of nuclear material which is one of the most confidential global technologies that the powers have exclusively kept for themselves. The young Iranian scientists, with this great breakthrough in the nuclear know-how, have indeed guaranteed Iranian nation’s long-term energy and this trend shouldn’t be lost at any price for any retreat from this field is tantamount to one hundred percent loss.”
Nuclear technology is the ability to turn natural Uranium into enriched Uranium through fission of atoms and the ability of fusion of atoms. The main usage of the nuclear energy is in the production of electricity. It is an easy and effective way to boil water and create steam for putting into action large generator turbines. The fuel of such stations is Uranium. The nuclear fuel cycle contains a number of industrial operations which facilitate electricity production with Uranium at nuclear reactors. Without these reactors at nuclear plants, these plants would resemble other plants that operate with coal and other types of fuels.
Production of nuclear electricity has been one of the major programs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In view of this, having nuclear fuel cycle and development of atomic power plants are of paramount importance.
Gaining access to the nuclear technology by the internal scientists was materialized while the Iranian students and scientists were banned from entering major scientific centers in the world. But much to the chagrin of the Global Arrogance, Ayatollah Khamenei’s encouragements on self-belief, bravery and reliance on the motto of “We Can” caused growth and flourishing of young scientists and elites in different domains especially nuclear field. The Leader says, “I read an article quoting from an American daily that, ‘Iran is an exception in the nuclear issue.’ This article explains from where China got the nuclear issue and from where Pakistan and India got it. But when it comes to Iran asks, ‘Whom has Iran got it from? No one.’ This article continues to explain that Iran gained access to the nuclear know-how in conditions that it was under sanctions, no advanced nuclear facilities were given to it and were struggling with it. The article even points to assassination of our nuclear scientists. These are the things that our enemies say. This article was published in Washington Post.”
Ayatollah Khamenei’s encouragements about production of science and its role in the progress of the country have their roots in the ayahs of the holy Qur’an. For instance, in ayahs 5 and 6 of surah Inshirah, God says, “So, surely with difficulty is ease; surely with difficulty is ease.”
The Leader states, “In every section that you manage to show motion and progress the other side will feel that sanction is a futile job and a silly job. The clear example is the 20% enriched Uranium which we needed direly for Tehran research plant. The country’s supply was finishing and this power plant would close down. The radio medicines that were needed and were produced here would be out of the reach of people. So, the officials made effort to produce 20%. The game played by the powerful in the world- led by the US and some other powers- on the issue of 20% is a sweet lengthy story of what they did! We were ready to buy this. They resorted to various kinds of gimmicks to obstruct so that the Islamic Republic came to the conclusion to produce the 20% itself. They didn’t believe that this would be materialized and didn’t believe that after producing 20% the production of fuel would be possible; that is, the [Iranians] could ever make the fuel rod and sheet. The youths of the Islamic Republic and young scientists, with their intellect, creativity and good management, were able to carry out this, too. Now that the world has understood that the Islamic Republic has gained access to this technology, has made the product and can use the product; they are beseeching. One says, ‘Buy from us.’ The other one says, ‘Buy from us.’ They say, ‘We are ready to sell it but you do not produce it.’ This is the world. The global pressure and the forging of pretexts by various big and small powers of the world against the Islamic Republic system and any independent system relies on its weakness and strength. Whenever you are weak their forging of pretexts will increase and whenever you are strong and able and stand on your own feet they will be forced to behave you more politely and more logically. This is the key to solve all problems of the country.”
The behavior of the enemies of the Islamic Revolution, especially the US government and the illegal Zionist regime of Israel after Iran’s access to nuclear know-how was not unexpected. This comes as the Great Satan (the United States of America), with the biggest stockpile of nuclear warheads, is the sole user of nuclear bombs in the world and the illegal regime in Tel Aviv is the only possessor of such lethal weapons in West Asia (Middle East as the Westerners like to call the region).
Ayatollah Khamenei says in this regard, “The bitter irony of our time is that the US government as the owner of the biggest and deadliest nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction and the sole perpetrator to use them, today wants to raise the flag of opposition against nuclear proliferation! They and their Western counterparts have equipped the Zionist regime with nuclear weapons and provided a great threat to this sensitive region; but this very deceitful lot does not tolerate peaceful usage of nuclear energy by independent countries and even exerts its utmost against production of nuclear fuel for radio medicines and other peaceful humane usages. Their mendacious excuse is the fear of producing nuclear weapons. As for the Islamic Republic of Iran, they themselves know that they are lying. We do not want to make nuclear weapon; not because of US’s becoming upset. It is our own belief. We believe that nuclear weapon is crime against humanity and must not be produced. And what exists in the world must be destroyed and obliterated.”
Gaining access to the advanced nuclear technology is among the inalienable rights of the member states of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to which Iran is a signatory. According to the treaty the countries which possess advanced technology are duty bound to assist other members to gain access to civil nuclear technology and the recipient of the assistance are committed to avoid any effort to achieve atomic weapon.
Dear listeners, we conclude this episode with the remarks of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the importance of the nuclear achievement, “What I say that the nuclear energy or better said the nuclear technology, fuel cycle and possibility of nuclear enrichment is the inalienable right of our nation; it means that if we do not maintain it today for this nation tomorrow this nation will stretch its hands begging of its enemies and opponents. If the Iranian nation doesn’t acquire the nuclear technology for its country today, several years later when the youths enter the market of job and activity; when the Iranian population becomes millions more than now that day the nation will have to stretch its hand toward foreigners and maybe enemies for one of its most fundamental needs. They will take the reputation and dignity of this nation to give it a trivial amount of what they have. We have not accepted this coercive remark and you the Iranian nation should know that the officials of the country will not accept it and I won’t submit to this coercive remark at any cost.”
