It was on the 15th of the month of Rajab, a few years after the heartrending tragedy of Karbala that martyrdom was achieved while on a visit to Syria by Hazrat Zainab (peace upon her), the Impeccable Granddaughter of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny).

Martyrdom of the tenth Imam

It is the day on which in the year 254 AH, corresponding to 868 AD, the 10th Infallible Heir of Prophet Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) was forced to leave the mortal world through a fatal dose of poison by a self-styled caliph of the usurper Abbasid regime.
