Iravani: Iranian navy plays key role in securing passageways

Pars Today - The ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations stated that the Iranian Navy plays a vital role in ensuring the security of strategic passageways, including the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the northern Indian Ocean.

By guaranteeing the safe passage of commercial ships and oil tankers, they contribute to enhancing regional and international maritime security. Amir Saeed Iravani, speaking at the UN Security Council’s open session on strengthening maritime security through international cooperation for global stability, added that Iran has consistently emphasized that sustainable maritime stability requires comprehensive regional cooperation. The permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations noted that, unfortunately, unilateral coercive measures, particularly extraterritorial sanctions imposed by the United States, undermine collective efforts. /IRIB news agency
