Iraqi PM stresses need to complete Shalamcheh–Basra Railway project
Pars Today – The prime minister of Iraq has emphasized the need to complete the Shalamcheh–Basra Railway project during a meeting in Baghdad with the minister of roads and urban development of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The office of the Iraqi prime minister announced on Monday that Mohammad Shia al-Sudani, welcoming Ms. Farzaneh Sadegh, stressed the need to expand rail and transit cooperation between the two countries—especially within the Development Road Project—and underlined the importance of completing the Shalamcheh–Basra Railway.
He regarded the project as vital for transporting passengers between the two countries and to Central Asia, particularly during the Arba’een pilgrimage.
