Minsk: Iran & Belarus seek to build strategic partnership
Pars Today – The deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, during a meeting with an Iranian parliamentary delegation, said on Monday that Minsk regards Tehran as an important regional partner and a strong player in international affairs. Both sides, he noted, are interested in establishing a strategic partnership.
Vadim Dmitrievich Ipatov made the remarks during a meeting in Minsk with the Iranian parliamentary delegation led by Ali-Asghar Bagherzadeh, who heads the Iran-Belarus Parliamentary Cooperation Group.
Ipatov stated that the two sides share a common understanding of global developments and trends and are committed to building a just and multipolar world. He noted that Belarus and Iran have already had 32 years of diplomatic cooperation.
He also recalled that in October of the previous year, the presidents of Iran and Belarus met on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan and agreed to sign a joint statement on the full and precise development of bilateral interests.
The Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in Minsk on July 20, 2025, at the invitation of Belarus’ House of Representatives.
