Washington to impose new restrictions on Iranian diplomats

Pars Today – The Associated Press has claimed that Washington plans to impose additional restrictions on diplomats from several countries, including Iran, during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session later this month.

According to the report, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump intends to introduce new limitations for diplomatic delegations from countries such as Iran when the General Assembly convenes in New York on September 22.

AP, citing a letter it claims to have seen from the U.S. State Department, wrote that the restrictions may include travel limitations and other measures on delegations from Iran as well as Sudan, Zimbabwe, and possibly Brazil.

Although these measures are still under review and could be modified, the proposal marks another step by the Trump administration toward enforcing stricter visa regulations, including a broad reassessment of visa holders and applicants attending UN meetings. / Mehr News Agency
