Pars Today – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is in New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met and held talks on Saturday with Iván Eduardo Gil Pinto, Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"Seyyed Abbas Araghchi," the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and "Iván Eduardo Gil Pinto," the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, expressed satisfaction with the strong and amicable relations between the two countries and emphasized the shared determination of the leaders of both nations to strengthen ties across all fields. The Iranian Foreign Minister, referring to the United States' interventionist policies in the Caribbean region, condemned the threats against Venezuela's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, while emphasizing the right of all member countries of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy, condemned the pressures and threats by the United States and some European countries against Iran. He described the instrumental use of the UN Security Council to exert pressure on Iran as a devastating blow to the credibility and standing of the United Nations. / IRNA
