Zohran Mamdani elected Mayor of New York

Pars Today – Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old Muslim politician and Democratic Socialist candidate, has won the mayoral election in New York City with more than 50 percent of the vote.

According to U.S. media reports, Mamdani, a 34-year-old Democrat, secured over half of the votes, becoming the mayor of New York City — the most populous city in the United States and the nation’s financial hub. His main rival, Andrew Cuomo, received about 43 percent of the votes despite enjoying strong financial backing from New York’s billionaires and real estate tycoons.
