Azeri foreign minister visits Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has travelled to Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials.

According to Press TV, Mammadyarov sat down with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral issues and regional developments.

In recent years, Tehran and Baku have developed close ties in different fields such as defense and economy.

Iran and Azerbaijan have also been working on a key North-South transport corridor, which is expected to connect Northern Europe to Southeast Asia through their territories.

Recently, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev said that trade ties between the two neighboring states saw a 74 percent increase in 2018 reaching $450 million.
