AFC Champions League: Persepolis 4-2 Al Rayyan
Iran’s Persepolis have ensured their passage to the Round of 16 as Group E leaders, after powering to a 4-2 victory over Al Rayyan of Qatar in the AFC Champions League.
The Iranian Champions flew off to a great start when Shahryar Moghan-Loo swept-in a fine finish in the 27th minute, before Ehsan Pahlavan doubled up the lead 6 minutes later.
Then at the start of the second half Yohan Boli pulled one back for Al Rayyan on a rebound, but Hossein Kanaani headed home in the 68th minute to restore the 2-goal cushion.
Boli struck back 18 minutes from time to revive some faint hopes for the Qatari club. However Yahiya Gol-Mohammadi’s men claimed their 4th, less than a minute later, when Isa Al-Kasir smashed the ball into the roof of the net from 7 yards out, sealing the win that guaranteed his team the top spot in Group E.
