Turkmenistan's president arrives in Iran for talks
Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedow has arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran as part of an official two-day visit to hold talks with senior authorities on the expansion of bilateral relations.
According to Press TV, Berdimuhamedow's plane landed in Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on Tuesday afternoon, with Iran's Minister of Transportation and Urban Development Rostam Qassemi receiving the Turkmen president upon arrival.
Berdimuhamedow, who had officially been invited by his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, is scheduled to attend joint meetings of the high-level delegations of the two countries and sign several cooperation documents and memorandums of understanding during his two-day visit.
This is Berdimuhamedow's first visit to Iran as Turkmenistan's president. He traveled to Tehran in January as the special envoy of Turkmenistan’s former President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and held talks with President Raeisi.
During that meeting, the Iranian president said Tehran was determined to boost relations with Ashgabat in all areas, especially transportation and energy generation.
