Iran have bowed out of the 2022 World Cup after a 1-0 loss to the United States.
According to Press TV, Iran conceded in the 38th minute, when Sergino Dest headed down a cross for Christian Pulisic, and the Chelsea striker got to the ball to fire it home.
Knowing that even a draw would send them to the knockout round, Iran's National Football Team (Team Melli) pushed for the equalizer. They had one great chance to make it happen but Saman Ghoddous’ first-time effort went wide.
With the result, the United States progressed through to the last 16 as group B runners-up behind England.
