  • Iran ready to attract investors in southern ports: Official

Iran’s deputy minister of roads and urban development for transportation affairs said that the country is ready to attract investors in its southern ports.

According to Tasnim news agency, Shahriar Afandizadeh made the remarks in a meeting with the Director of the Intergovernmental Council of Roads Management of the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) Buri Karimov in Tehran on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed international transport and transit issues.

The Islamic Republic is ready to transit one million tons of goods from Central Asia and to welcome participation of investors in southern Iranian ports wholeheartedly, Afandizadeh said.

Karimov, for his part, proposed the initiative plan of implementation of the “International Rally” aimed at strengthening the trade and cultural ties and considered the development of relations with the Central Asian states “more important”.

Buri Karimov pointed out that the initiative plan of “International Rally” will kick off on March 27, 2023 and would continue after passing from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Armenia.

Increasing the transit volume between Iran and Turkmenistan, determining the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the centerpiece of cooperation for holding International Rally, readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran for accepting investment opportunities at the southern Iranian ports, transiting up to one million tons of goods from the Central Asian states and etc, were among the main topics discussed earlier between the two sides.
