Ceremony of awarding 1st Knowledge Excellence Medal in Tehran

Tehran (IP) - The Ceremony of awarding the first Knowledge Excellence Medal to the winners was held in Tehran on Monday, May 29.

According to Iran Press, Chancellor of Tehran University Mohammad Moghimi said to reach the new Islamic civilization, stressed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, one important issue is the elevation of scientists' status.

The Chancellor addressing the participants mentioned that this ceremony aims to promote knowledge and develop the discourse of science as well as to honor the scholars.

He highlighted the brilliant history of science and scientists in Iran and hoped that the Iranian scholars will once again become the harbingers of science and knowledge in the world.

Chancellor of Tehran's Medical University Hossein Ghana'ati (another speaker at the ceremony) highlighted the role of science in today's world and mentioned that the scientifically advanced countries are the pioneers in the globe.

He referred to Tehran Medical University as a scientific society which is catching up with the advance science in most areas and recalled Iran's advancements such as CAR T cell therapy to cure cancer, saying Iran is the third country in the world possessing this treatment technology.

Ghana'ati also referred to the robotic surgery operation which was done in Indonesia in the presence of the Iranian and Indonesian Presidents, through an Iranian device.  

The Knowledge Excellence Medal ceremony was held at Allameh Amini Hall of Central Library and Documentation Center, Tehran, on the Anniversary of the University of Tehran Establishment Law, with the support of the University of Tehran (UT) and Tehran University of Medical Science (TUMS).
