President Raeisi: Iran, Qatar 'possess huge potentials to expand ties'
President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi has highlighted the huge potentials of the Islamic Republic and Qatar to further expand bilateral, regional and international cooperation.
“Iran and Qatar, through their shared outlooks, possess great capacities for expanding bilateral, regional and international cooperation with each other,” President Raeisi said during a phone conversation with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday while expressing his appreciation for the emir's efforts in advancing joint programs and agreements with Tehran.
The president went on to add that the Islamic Republic has always underlined the significance of upgrading ties with Qatar, pointing out that Tehran considers broadening of bilateral cooperation with Doha a prelude to strengthening regional and international cooperation as much as possible.
Sheikh Tamim, for his part, congratulated President Raiesi and the Iranian nation on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha, and further declared Qatar's readiness to boost its economic cooperation and investments in Iran.
“Considering the good discussions and consultations we have held in the development of relations, we are prepared to hold a joint commission for economic cooperation in the near future,” he said.
The development followed Doha's announcement of releasing seven Iranians from prisons in Qatar and their return home.
