  • Iran asks Switzerland for info on police killing of Iranian national

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has requested information from the Swiss government on the recent police killing of an Iranian national in Switzerland.

According to Press TV, the request was made by a senior Iranian diplomat in a meeting with the Swiss ambassador in Tehran, Nadine Olivieri Lozano, on Wednesday.

In the meeting, the Iranian diplomat said it was absolutely essential that all governments observe the rights of Iranian nationals and called for Switzerland to provide Iran with “accurate information” regarding the murder, according to Iranian media reports.

The Swiss ambassador said she would convey the message to her government and provide Iran with a response.

The meeting concerned the police killing of a 32-year-old Iranian in the town of Essert-sous-Champvent near the French border on February 8.

Swiss authorities alleged the man was armed with an axe and a knife and had held 15 hostages on a train for almost four hours before police stormed the train and fatally wounded him.
