Pars Today - The Chinese Ambassador to Iran, expressing delight over his visit to Persepolis, stated that this magnificent monument reflects the wisdom and ancient civilization of the Iranian people. On Sunday, Cong Peiwu, China’s Ambassador to Tehran, visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Persepolis in Iran’s Fars Province.
According to Pars Today, during an interview at the Persepolis site, Cong Peiwu said that cultural interactions between Iran and China, facilitated through the Silk Road, began over 2,000 years ago and continue today through joint archaeological collaborations between the two nations.
Referring to the 44-year diplomatic relationship between Iran and China, Peiwu noted that cultural cooperation has expanded significantly since 2016, following the Chinese President’s visit to Iran. He added, “We are eager to strengthen these ties and develop shared cultural initiatives.”
The Chinese Ambassador also addressed the United States’ unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), stating that China has consistently advocated for a political and diplomatic resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue.
He emphasized that diplomatic dialogue is the only appropriate approach to resolving this challenge. He further urged the U.S. to demonstrate greater goodwill in ongoing negotiations with Iran to facilitate a resolution through dialogue.
Persepolis, a legacy of the Achaemenid kings from 2,500 years ago, is one of the prominent historical sites in Shiraz, Fars Province. This ancient complex is considered one of the most significant testaments to the history of world civilization. As a result, renowned scholars and archaeologists from around the globe visit Persepolis to study its historical and cultural importance.
