Pars Today – China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that unilateral sanctions against Iran should be lifted as soon as possible and welcomed the possibility of easing the restrictions imposed on Tehran.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Guo Jiakun responded at Wednesday’s press briefing to the possibility of the United States lifting sanctions on Iran, saying:

“Beijing has consistently called for the unilateral sanctions against Tehran to be lifted as soon as possible.”

He also expressed hope that Iran and the United States would properly implement the memorandum they had previously signed, continue their negotiations, and work toward reaching a comprehensive political solution on the Iran issue at the earliest opportunity.

The report adds that the United States and Israel launched their second military attack on Iran in the early hours of February 28, 2026, while negotiations were underway. It states that a temporary ceasefire agreement was announced on April 9, 2026, through Pakistani mediation, followed by the start of direct Tehran–Washington talks in Islamabad.

According to the report, Iran and the United States ultimately reached an agreement through the mediation of Pakistan, Qatar, and several other regional countries. The related memorandum of understanding was electronically signed on June 18, 2026, by Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump.

The document, according to the report, establishes the framework for ending military operations, implementing mutual commitments, and launching a 60-day period of technical negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement.
