Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister warned that if the snapback mechanism is implemented, the cooperation agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would lose its validity, and the Islamic Republic would respond appropriately.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, upon his arrival in New York on Monday to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, emphasized the importance of Iran’s participation. He noted that this year’s session is marked by two key features: coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and being Iran’s first presence since the attacks by the Israeli regime and the United States on Iran.
According to Pars Today, Araghchi emphasized that at the UN General Assembly, Iran will insist on the legitimacy of the Iranian nation’s resistance during the 12-day Sacred Defense and on the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
Regarding recent developments, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that if the snapback mechanism is activated in the UN Security Council, Iran’s cooperation agreement with the IAEA would also be invalidated, and relations would enter a new phase.
Araghchi stressed that the actions of the three European countries in advancing this process are “destructive” to diplomacy, and Iran will respond appropriately.
The head of Iran’s foreign policy apparatus also referred to upcoming meetings with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the foreign ministers of European countries, saying: “This period provides an opportunity for final consultations; the opposing parties must decide between a path of cooperation or confrontation with Iran.”
Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic only recognizes the language of respect and dignity, Araghchi stated that Iran has shown a commitment to diplomacy and remains ready to find a peaceful solution, provided that the interests and security concerns of the Iranian nation are ensured.
The Iranian Foreign Minister described the current situation as a result of the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, adding: “Although the path of the Iranian nation is clear, the interests of the region and the international system require that a diplomatic solution be found, and Iran is fully prepared for this.”
