Pars Today – The Iranian Foreign Minister, speaking at the Non-Aligned Movement Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Uganda, described Palestine as one of the most important international issues. He emphasized that resolving it will not be possible without addressing its root cause: occupation and the deprivation of the Palestinian people’s fundamental right to self-determination.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who traveled to Uganda to attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers’ meeting, presented Iran’s positions during a speech at the general session on Wednesday morning.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Abbas Araghchi emphasized the need to uphold the fundamental principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, particularly the right of nations to self-determination, respect for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the prohibition of the use of force, and the condemnation of unilateral coercive actions. He called for strengthening solidarity and unity among developing countries to confront the growing challenges and threats posed by unilateralism and the domination of certain powers.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, referring to the criminal assault by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran during the 12-day war, described the action as a clear example of lawlessness and aggression by the two regimes. He also warned of the ongoing threats they pose to global peace and security.
Araghchi described the abuse by three European countries — the United Kingdom, France, and Germany — of the JCPOA dispute resolution mechanism and the UN Security Council to reinstate previously revoked Security Council resolutions against Iran as illegal. He emphasized that this action cannot have any legal effect, noting that it faced opposition from several Security Council members, including two permanent members.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, recalling the expiration of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and its provisions regarding Iran’s nuclear issue on October 18, 2025, called on the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement to oppose the misuse of international institutions—particularly the UN Security Council—for coercion and pressure on developing countries.
Araghchi described the Palestinian issue as one of the most important international matters, noting that it cannot be resolved without addressing its root cause: occupation and the deprivation of the Palestinian people’s fundamental right to self-determination. He emphasized the legitimate and legal right of the Palestinian people to continue their struggle to achieve this right and reminded all governments of their responsibilities in this regard. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports any measures aimed at stopping the genocide of Palestinians, ensuring the withdrawal of occupiers from Gaza, facilitating unhindered humanitarian aid, and rebuilding Gaza.
The Iranian Foreign Minister further emphasized the need for solidarity and support for Non-Aligned Movement member countries facing unilateral and unjust actions by the United States, including Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Belarus, and Iran.
