Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei becomes Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran

ParsToday - The Assembly of Experts of the Leadership, by an overwhelming majority vote, has introduced Ayatollah Haajj Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to ParsToday, the members of the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership have chosen Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the leader of the Islamic Republic.

The full text of the statement from the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran is as follows:

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Peace and blessings of God be upon you, O noble and free people of Islamic Iran. The Assembly of Experts of the Leadership, while offering condolences on the martyrdom of the great leader, His Eminence Ayatollah al-Udhma Imam Khamenei (may his soul be sanctified) and other dear martyrs, especially the esteemed and dedicated commanders of the armed forces and the students of Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab city, and condemning the brutal aggression of criminal USA and the malevolent Zionist regime, hereby informs you that this assembly, immediately after announcing the martyrdom and heavenly ascension of the wise and sagacious leader of the Islamic Revolution, despite the critical conditions of war and direct threats from enemies against this popular institution, and the bombing of the Secretariat offices of the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership which led to the martyrdom of several staff members and the security team of this complex, has not hesitated for a moment in the process of selecting and introducing the leader of the Islamic Republic. Therefore, in accordance with its duties stipulated in the Constitution and the internal regulations of the Assembly of Experts, it has accomplished the necessary measures and arrangements for holding an extraordinary session and introducing the new leader. Accordingly, appropriate planning and necessary coordination have been made for the gathering of the honorable representatives of this assembly who were located in outmost parts of the country, so that according to the wise provisions in Article 111 of the Constitution for the formation of a temporary council, the country does not suffer from absence of the Leader.

The Assembly of Experts of the Leadership, by honoring the exalted position of the Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist (Wilayat-e Faqih) in the era of the Occultation of His Eminence Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) and the importance of the issue of leadership in the Islamic Republic, commemorates 47 years of wise governance based on the principles of dignity, independence, and authority of the two Leaders of the Revolution. While commemorating the memory of those divine and popular leaders, it announces that this assembly, after thorough and extensive deliberations and according to the Article 108 of the Constitution, in accordance with its religious duty and belief in appearing before Almighty God, in today's extraordinary session (Sunday), has determined and introduced Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may God protect him) as the third Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the decisive vote of the honorable representatives of the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership. In conclusion, it expresses gratitude to the members of the temporary council of Article 111 of the Constitution and invites all the noble people of Iran, especially the elites and scholars of the seminaries and universities, to pledge allegiance to the leadership and maintain unity by following the Leader, and implores the Almighty for the continuation of His grace and favor upon this country and its great people.
