Iran’s Foreign Minister traveled to Russia
Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister said he traveled to Russia to continue close consultations between Tehran and Moscow on regional and international issues and to enhance bilateral relations.
Early Monday morning, the Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in St. Petersburg to meet and hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Pars Today, quoting IRNA, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, said upon his arrival at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia:
“Today’s meeting is a suitable opportunity to discuss developments in the war and to review the latest situation in this regard, and I am confident that these consultations and coordination between the two countries will be of particular importance.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister, speaking about the goals and outcomes of his two recent trips to Islamabad and Oman over the past three days, said: “Given that Pakistan is involved in the important task of mediating the negotiations between Iran and the United States, it was necessary to review the latest situation in meetings with the officials of that country.”
Araghchi added: “Despite the progress made in previous negotiations, they did not achieve their goals due to the Americans’ approach, the excessive demands they made, and the wrong positions they adopted. Therefore, it was necessary to hold consultations with our friends in Pakistan to assess the latest situation.”
Araghchi said: “The trip to Islamabad was a very good trip; useful consultations were held, and during it, we reviewed what had happened so far and under what conditions the negotiations could continue.”
He emphasized: “The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the negotiations is of great importance. We must secure the rights of the Iranian people after 40 days of resistance and ensure the country’s interests. Consultations between Iranian and Omani experts regarding the Strait of Hormuz will continue.”
Referring to his meetings with senior Omani officials during this regional trip, the Foreign Minister also said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman are two coastal countries bordering the Strait of Hormuz, and it is necessary for them to consult with each other, especially since safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz has become an important issue at the global level.”
