Pars Today – Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations emphasized that responsibility for any disruption, obstruction, or interference in maritime transportation in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz lies directly with the United States and its supporters.

According to Pars Today, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, said at a UN Security Council session on “Safety and Security of Maritime Waterways”:

“The Strait of Hormuz has increasingly been used to support military operations in the region, including the transfer of military equipment aimed at hostile actions against Iran. This militarization has placed international shipping at unprecedented levels of risk in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iravani said: “At the same time, the United States has continued its internationally wrongful actions by imposing what it calls a naval blockade, illegally seizing Iranian commercial ships, and detaining their crews. These dangerous and escalatory actions violate international law, contravene the UN Charter, constitute the crime of piracy, and are defined as acts of aggression under Article 3(c) of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 of 14 December 1974.”

He stated: “Iran strongly condemns these illegal actions and calls on the Security Council to take a firm stance, condemn these measures, ensure full accountability, and demand the immediate and unconditional release of the ships and their crews.”

Iravani concluded by emphasizing: “Responsibility for any disruption, obstruction, or other interference with maritime transport in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz lies directly with the aggressors—namely, the United States and its supporters—whose illegal and destabilizing actions have escalated tensions and endangered maritime safety and freedom of navigation. Any claim to the contrary is baseless and lacks credibility.”
