Pars Today — Iran’s representative defeated Judd Trump, the world’s number one snooker player, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Snooker Championship.
According to Pars Today, the World Snooker Championship is being held from April 18 to May 4, 2026, in the historic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. Hossein Vafaei, Iran’s national snooker player, faced Judd Trump in the round of 16. At the end of the third session, the Iranian representative succeeded in defeating the world’s top player in an exciting and intense match, earning a well‑deserved place among the top eight competitors.
With this victory, Vafaei will face Wu Yize from China.
The World Snooker Championship began in 1927 and has been held continuously at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield since 1977. In the previous edition, Zhao Xintong of China won the world title.
