Pars Today – The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a recent diplomatic position that uranium enrichment is Iran’s legal right and that all decisions in this area rest solely with Iran.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, said during her weekly press briefing on Thursday that Moscow once again emphasizes its principled position regarding Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
She stressed Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear program and added that only Iran can decide how this right is exercised, including in the area of uranium enrichment.
Zakharova noted that decisions on how to implement this right, including enrichment of uranium and existing nuclear materials, can only be made by the Iranian people themselves.
She further stated that Moscow remains fully committed to providing necessary assistance to Tehran and Washington in implementing any agreements that may be reached during negotiations.
