Pars Today – Iran’s Energy Minister announced that the country’s renewable power generation capacity has increased fourfold and has now exceeded 5,000 megawatts.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Kaveh Methanol Power Plant.
Aliabadi outlined the latest developments in Iran’s water and electricity sectors, measures taken to expand renewable energy, and new policies aimed at managing energy consumption and addressing excessive power use.
Referring to global energy trends, he said:
“Worldwide developments indicate that we are entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution and moving toward electrification. As a result, electricity consumption is increasing. At the same time, environmental protection must remain a priority, ensuring that the use of fossil fuels does not harm the environment. Therefore, the expansion of renewable energy is a global commitment, and countries around the world are moving toward it without delay.”
