Iran-Russia signed a three-year tourism cooperation roadmap
Pars Today – Iran and Russia, by signing a tourism cooperation roadmap for the years 2026 to 2028, emphasized removing existing obstacles, facilitating tourist travel, and expanding bilateral cooperation in this field.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, during a meeting in Moscow between Hojatollah Ayoubi, senior advisor to the minister and head of the Center for International Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy of Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, and Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, the tourism cooperation action plan for 2026–2028 was signed.
In this meeting, Ayoubi referred to his talks with the Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development and the Deputy Minister of Culture of that country, describing the conditions for expanding cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries as favorable, and said: Iran and Russia, by signing this roadmap, aim to resolve existing problems in the implementation of previous agreements and begin a new chapter of cooperation in the field of tourism.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia also described this memorandum of understanding as the latest operational plan between Tehran and Moscow in the field of tourism for the next three years, and said that the most important issues of bilateral cooperation in tourism exchanges have been addressed in this document.
Vakhrukov added that the agreement examines ways to facilitate access for Russian tourists to Iran and Iranian tourists to Russia, as well as issues such as financial payments, visas, and flights.
In this meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of facilitating financial payments for tourists during reciprocal travel and considered the full implementation of the monetary agreement between Iran and Russia, as well as enabling tourists to use bank cards connected to Iran’s Shaparak network and Russia’s “Mir” network, as essential requirements for the development of tourism cooperation.
