Pars Today – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations has sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council warning about the consequences of brazen threats by the Israeli regime against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Amir Saeid Iravani wrote on Wednesday to António Guterres, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the UN General Assembly.

In the letter, Iravani described the remarks attributed to the Israeli minister of war, Yoav Gallant, against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as a clear example of “state terrorism” and a blatant violation of the UN Charter.

The letter further stated that the public threat of assassination constitutes a violation of paragraph (1) of the Islamabad Memorandum, which was signed by the United States, placing responsibility on Washington to ensure compliance with its provisions.

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations further stated in its letter that such threats are not merely rhetorical, but part of a deliberate and systematic policy of “state terrorism” targeting senior Iranian officials.

The letter—sent by Amir Saeid Iravani—said that this policy is being pursued within the framework of unlawful acts of aggression by the Israeli regime against Iran, including the targeting of senior political and military figures.

It further claims these actions have been carried out with the “participation, coordination, and support of the United States,” and refers to the assassination of Iran’s former Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with other officials.

The letter argues that such actions constitute a grave violation of the UN Charter, fundamental principles of international law—including the prohibition on the threat or use of force—and peremptory norms of international law.

It also states that during Israeli military operations against Iran in June 2025 and between February and April 2026, civilians and civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, educational centers, and cultural sites were deliberately targeted, resulting in the deaths of more than 4,800 civilians, including women and children.

The letter concludes that the latest threat should be seen as a continuation of unlawful state terrorism and criminal acts of aggression.

Iran’s letter to the United Nations emphasized:

“Unfortunately, the Security Council’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities under the UN Charter has reinforced an environment of impunity, encouraging the Israeli regime to further normalize state terrorism. Such immunity creates a highly dangerous precedent and poses a serious threat to international peace and security. The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns these threatening and disgraceful statements and holds the Israeli regime fully responsible for all consequences arising from any aggressive actions or other unlawful conduct that may follow such threats.”

Iran warned in its letter:

“Any miscalculation or hostile action by the Israeli regime will be met with a firm and immediate response, and full responsibility for all consequences will rest solely with that regime.”

In another part of the letter, it was stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and reserves the right to take all necessary and proportionate measures to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, national security, and people against any armed attack or any unlawful threat or use of force.

It further added that Iran remains fully prepared to exercise this right decisively and resolutely if necessary.
