Pezeshkian: We will seriously pursue accountability for recent crimes

Pars Today – Iran’s President, in separate meetings with special delegations from China, Namibia, and Afghanistan attending the funeral ceremony of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, thanked those countries for condemning the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran and described the actions as a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Masoud Pezeshkian met on Friday with the visiting delegations, which had traveled to Tehran to participate in the funeral and memorial ceremonies.

Referring to the scope and consequences of the recent military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, Pezeshkian said:

"The actions taken against the Islamic Republic of Iran constituted a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, the peremptory norms of international law, the principle of respect for the national sovereignty of states, and all rules of international humanitarian law."

He referred to the deaths of a number of military commanders, government officials, scientists, and innocent civilians during the attacks, stating:

"Targeting civilian facilities and killing innocent people are clear examples of conduct that violates accepted international norms. The Islamic Republic of Iran will vigorously pursue these crimes and seek accountability for those responsible and those who supported them by utilizing all available legal and diplomatic avenues in international organizations and forums."

Pezeshkian also reaffirmed Iran's stated commitment to strengthening regional stability and security, saying:

"Iran has always sought relations with neighboring countries based on good neighborliness, mutual respect, and shared interests, and remains determined to expand its ties with its neighbors. In this regard, no country should allow its territory, facilities, or capabilities to be used by aggressors to carry out actions against the Iranian nation and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

In another part of his remarks, Masoud Pezeshkian described the expansion and deepening of relations with friendly, brotherly, and like-minded countries as a strategic priority of Iran's foreign policy. Referring to the broad potential for cooperation with China, Namibia, and Afghanistan, he expressed Iran's readiness to strengthen collaboration in political, economic, trade, investment, cultural, scientific, technological, and people-to-people exchanges.

The special delegations from China, Namibia, and Afghanistan, for their part, conveyed condolences and messages of sympathy from their senior officials following the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. They also reaffirmed their respect for Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed support for expanding bilateral relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran across various fields.
