Commissioner: Iran-EU trade balance hits 10bln euros

EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, underlined that the multi-billion-euro volume of trade exchanges between the European Union and Iran has considerably increased in recent years.
"Agreements signed between Iran and the European Union this year are worth 10 billion euros," Hogan said.
He noted that regarding the present engagement between the EU and Iran, there is a positive view about the future of relations and further enhancement of ties.
Hogan went on to say that the EU wants to encourage the US Congress to accept that the Iran nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was the best approach.
"We want to develop and deepen our cooperation with Iran, including our agricultural ties," he added.
Hogan, leading a 70-member delegation from 19 European countries is in the Iranian capital to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations between the EU and Tehran.
