Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said Tehran supports dialog among all political groups in Yemen.
"It is in pursuit of stopping the conflict and sending humanitarian aid to the war-torn country. Iran supports the idea of comprehensive talks among all parties involved in the conflict," Amir Abdollahian said Tuesday in a meeting in Tehran with Director-General of the Swiss Foreign Ministry for the Middle East Affairs Wolfgang Brulhart.
He stressed the need to continue cooperation with Switzerland in the push for resolving regional and humanitarian issues.
"Countries should assist in the war on terror and establishment of ceasefire. This way we can say with confidence that the developments in Syria are on the right path too. We can also say after the ceasefire there are better prospects for talks to resolve that conflict."
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for more than 11 months now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far martyred at least 8,600 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Hadi stepped down in January 2015 and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries.
