The Syrian army has driven Daesh out of their key stronghold town of al-Mayadeen in southeastern Deir Ezzur.
"The army has purged terrorists from the town of al-Mayadeen and its surrounding regions and managed to impose full control over the town," the army sources said.
According to Fars News agency, they added that the army men are advancing in the western outskirts of al-Mayadeen to fortify their defense lines.
In the meantime, field sources reported that fierce clashes are underway between the pro-government forces and the Daesh terrorists on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, opposite to Deir Ezzur city.
Earlier reports said that the army soldiers advanced significantly against Daesh on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River and deployed along the road connecting Deir Ezzur city to Hasaka Province.
A military source said that the army has now cut off the entire supply roads of Daesh after it advanced against terrorists in al-Salehiyeh region at the northern entrance of Deir Ezzur city and at the al-Siyasah Bridge.
