One injured in axe, shooting attack in Cologne
One person has been seriously injured in a knife and shooting attack in the German city of Cologne, and police say two suspects are on the run.
Eyewitnesses said they had seen five "exceptionally well-dressed" people attacking each other with axes in the city center early Monday morning.
They said a man who sustained a stab wound tried to flee in his car but other men shot at him. He was later admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
The motive for the attack was not immediately clear. Germany is on tenterhooks following a recent spate of attacks in which a number of people have been killed.
Last month, a 17-year-old asylum seeker went on an axe rampage on a train in the German city of Wuerzburg, severely wounding four people before being shot dead by police.
