Venezuelan interior ministry's announcement on discovering huge cargo of American arms for riot
Pars Today - The interior ministry of Venezuela informed of discovering and seizing a huge cargo of American arms and ammunitions dedicated for instigating riot and insurgency in the country.
Diosdado Cabello, Venezuelan Interior Minister, announced in a press conference, "More than 400 illegal American weapons have been discovered and confiscated." According to Pars Today, based on the statement of the Venezuelan interior ministry, hardline opposition had intended to use these weapons to cause chaos and disorder against the legal government of the country.
It is said that three Americans, two Spaniards and one man from the Czech Republic have been detained on charges of conspiring to destabilize the country.
Reuters also reported from the American State Department that one of the persons in Venezuela affiliated to the US army has been detained on charges of the attempt to topple the government of President Nicholas Maduro. This is while, the White House has called the news on arresting an American national accused of overthrowing the Venezuelan government as "false claim".
It should be mentioned that the claim of the opponents of the Venezuelan government towards the official announcement of Maduro's victory [in the recent presidential election] has caused street unrest and clashes of police with rioters and diplomatic tensions in the country.
Nicholas Maduro was elected as the Venezuelan president on July 29 with %51.2 of the votes. However, the opposition pinning their hope in Edmundo González Urrutia and led by Maria Corina Machado, rejected the election results and claimed that Urrutia had gained %73.2 of the votes.
