Pars Today – Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting, criticized Western hypocrisy and defended Iran’s rights in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Pars Today, Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s ambassador to the UN, said on Monday at the Security Council meeting: “During wartime, a coastal country that has been attacked may restrict navigation in its waters in order to ensure its security.”
The Russian representative to the United Nations emphasized that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is a consequence of the United States and Israel’s attack on Iran, which “has had wide‑ranging consequences for the global economy.”
Nebenzya went on to compare Western countries to pirates, adding: While pirates raise black flags over their ships, Western countries try to conceal their actions. The Russian ambassador to the UN noted: This is merely a superficial cover intended to hide the fact that the European Union is engaging in blatant piracy at sea, while at the same time speaking of a “rules‑based order.”
Nebenzya added that European countries “shamefully ignore the fundamental roots of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
