Protests against occupation in London
Pars Today – Thousands of pro-Palestinian supporters marched through central London on the seventy-eighth anniversary of the Nakba, protesting the continued occupation, the genocide in Gaza, and Britain’s political and military support for the Zionist regime.
According to Pars Today, thousands of Palestinian supporters took to the streets of central London, the capital of Britain, on Saturday carrying Palestinian flags, anti-war placards, images of victims in Gaza, and large symbolic keys, turning the city into a scene of protest against 78 years of occupation and displacement of the Palestinian people.
Chanting slogans in support of Palestinian freedom, an end to the blockade of Gaza, a halt to arms sales to the Zionist regime, and the prosecution of those responsible for war crimes, the demonstrators accused the British government of complicity in the killing of Palestinians due to its continued political and military support for Tel Aviv.
A number of children and teenagers marched among the crowd carrying large keys, symbolizing the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
Many of the placards described Britain’s silence in the face of aggression as evidence of a deep contradiction between its declared commitment to human rights and its practical support for a regime accused of committing widespread atrocities against civilians in the region.
Display of the Palestinian flag on the Eiffel Tower
Meanwhile, in Paris, the capital of France, pro-Palestinian activists raised the Palestinian flag on the Eiffel Tower. Given the strict measures that have been enforced over the years to prevent the display of any Palestinian symbols on the Eiffel Tower, this act was regarded as a significant achievement.
