Thousands of people surrounded Taiwan's parliament on Wednesday trying to get onto its premise, protesting against a military pension reform proposed by the cabinet committee.
According to reports, while trying to enter the parliament grounds by climbing up fences and throwing smoke bombs, several protesters were held on the ground while more than 30 were arrested, according to local media.
The proposed bill is up for review on Thursday and will become law on July 1 if it passes, slashing the pensions of retired veterans, civil servants and teachers.
