The Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says, “If the Muslim nations with these huge resources and unique characteristics, not in details but in general orientations, become one in heart and tongue, the progress and sublimity of the Islamic Ummah will be guaranteed and the global reflection of unity and cooperation in the Islamic Ummah will be the source of ‘dignity, repute and grandeur of the Prophet of Islam.’”

Now we read more about the view of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the Islamic unity.

Unity of Muslims has always been one of the major concerns of the great Islamic reformers and thinkers. By unity it is meant that all Muslims, while adhering to their particular sect, converge and concentrate on religious commonalties such as monotheism, holy Qur’an, grand Prophet, the belief in Resurrection and the Day of Judgment, and distance from various sectarian, political, racial and other differences which undermine the power of the Islamic Ummah and pave the way for infiltration and intervention in the internal affairs of Muslims and exploitation of their resources by Imperialists and Zionists which Imam Khomeini, according to the Qur’anic teachings, used to call them the front of the Global Arrogance led by the Great Satan, the US. Without an iota of doubt, Imam Khomeini was the greatest thinker and reviver of Islam among Muslim scholars and ulema, not in the last century but during centuries and ages. He was the main promoter and propagator of unity among Muslims of all denominations. The current Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, too, has raised the flag of unity in the Islamic world. Unity in view of these great figures is first of all for preservation of Islam. They have promoted unity not for the mere purpose of standing against the common enemy. Thus, even if there is no common enemy, Muslims are duty bound to set aside their differences and rifts and consolidate their ranks.

The authentic Islamic teachings consider a very high status for unity and ask Muslims to not only get united with each other but cooperate and converge with non-Muslims due to human commonalties. Unity among Muslims is explicitly and expressly stressed in the holy Qur’an. In surah Ale Imran, God says, “And hold fast all together to Allah’s cord and do not be divided.”

The practice of the Prophet of Islam and the infallible Imams of his progeny were also concentrated fully on emphasizing common points and ignoring uncommon points to safeguard unity and cooperation.

Ayatollah Khamenei considers unity among Muslims as a duty adopted from the genuine Islamic instructions. He says, “Unity and brotherhood among Muslims is one of our religious principles.”

In view of the Leader, unity of Muslims and avoiding discord among them paves the ground for “collective standing against bullying of the hegemonic system and defending the trampled interests and rights of the world of Islam.”

As per the Qur’anic teachings, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution explains, “‘And hold fast to Allah’s cord and do not be divided.’ Holding fast to Allah’s cord is a duty for every Muslim but the Qur’an doesn’t consider it sufficient to order us to hold fast to Allah’s cord, it tells us further to perform holding fast to Allah’s cord in the form of congregation; “jami’an”, do it all together. And this togetherness and unity is another obligatory act. Therefore, a Muslim, besides holding fast to Allah’s cord, must do this holding fast and solidarity together with other Muslims and hand in hand with them.

Let us recognize this holding fast and perform it correctly. Another ayah of Qur’an says, ‘So one who disavows Taghut and has faith in Allah has held fast to the firmest handle’. This Ayah gives us the meaning of holding fast to Allah’s cord. How is holding fast to Allah’s cord? By having faith in Allah and disavowing Taghut. Today the greatest Taghut in the world is the regime of the United States of America.”

The Leader explains that the current problem of the Islamic world is that the Global Arrogance and Colonialism, since a couple of centuries ago, have found it expedient to stir up discord and rift among Muslim nations in a bid to plunder the riches of these countries and prevent them from their rightful progress. Ayatollah Khamenei believes that the world powers, owing to the knowledge and technology they had gained and the arms they had made, aimed at exploiting the Islamic countries.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, referring to the wealth and strategic position of the Islamic countries, says, “Today the geographical region of Muslims is the most important region in the world. Their countries are among the richest countries in natural terms. Today the gate of Asia to Europe, the gate of Europe to Asia and Africa, Africa to Europe and Asia belongs to Muslims. This geopolitical region and the blessed lands owned by Muslims contain resources like oil, gas, etc. which the human civilization needs daily. The existence of such resources has caused the pillage of Islamic countries by the Global Arrogance find a new shape every day. Now, through creating differences between Shia and Sunni Muslims and causing mutual murder among Muslims, they pursue infiltration of Islamic countries and dominating them.”

Ayatollah Khamenei, who monitors the activities of enemies with sharp eyes, has indeed referred to a subtle point. He draws everybody’s attention to remember the words of the American politicians during the past few years; that is, when they were speaking of “New Middle East” but nobody knew what plot these arrogant are pursuing to implement in the Middle East. What are they going to do that they name it the New Middle East and what do these arrogant mean with this notion?

The Leader makes it clear that seeing the current circumstances of the Middle East disclosed the plot of enemies. He elaborates, “The New Middle East means the Middle East of war, the Middle East of terrorist, the Middle East of bigotry and dogmatism, the Middle East busy with itself. There is war in Syria, there is war in Iraq, there is war in Libya, terrorism is rampant in all countries; in Turkey there is terrorism, in other places there is terrorism. This is the New Middle East. This is what they pursued. Yes, they deny but human being has eyes, human being has wisdom. He looks and sees. They intend to stage war of Shia and Sunni, arm internal agents, and make nations and governments fight each other. This is their New Middle East. Know the US. The enemies are after unrest and discord in the Middle East. So, recognition of the enemy and its tricks and gimmicks, together with unity and cooperation against such a common enemy is one of the duties of each and every Muslim.”

Ayatollah Khamenei maintains that there are many commonalties for cooperation and solidarity among Muslims. The grand Prophet and the holy Qur’an are the main commonalties which have exactly been targeted by the enemy to destroy the pure Mohammedan Islam. He believes that the enemy uses various tools to deal blow to Islam the most important of which is forging divisions and pessimism in the fold of Muslims. Today fabrication of rifts between Shias and Sunnis is the main aim of the Global Arrogance, Zionism and their allies and myrmidons. Thus, Muslims should be vigilant and insightful to preserve their unity and thwart the conspiracies of the enemies on the point. The Leader further states that now it is the time for the Islamic world to come to its senses and choose the Straight Path of God as the only way of getting rid of the plots hatched by the enemies and achieving salvation.
