The Hill: US highly vulnerable to nuclear surprise attack
Jul 09, 2025 06:59 UTC
Pars Today –The Hill news website has reported that the US is highly vulnerable to a surprise nuclear attack, which, if successful, could prevent any retaliatory response and embolden US adversaries to use nuclear weapons.
The report highlights that the US relies on a small fleet of command aircraft equipped to oversee nuclear forces during wartime. However, these measures are ineffective against modern hypersonic missiles and submarine-launched missiles capable of striking within 15 minutes—the time needed for the command aircraft to take off and escape from its base.
