EU FMs reaffirm diplomacy as the best path for solving Iran's nuclear issue
Pars Today – The European Union’s foreign policy chief said on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) that EU foreign ministers reiterated diplomacy as the best approach to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.
Speaking at a press conference following the EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting, Kaja Kallas repeated political claims about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and said: “Once again, the foreign ministers emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons, and diplomacy remains the best and most sustainable way to achieve this goal.”
She added: “Although the ceasefire remains fragile, it has created an opportunity to resume talks. The EU foreign ministers called for immediate dialogue and the reinstatement of UN (IAEA) inspectors in Iran. The European Union is ready to negotiate.”
Kallas had previously said that a return to diplomacy and resumption of talks with Iran was in the EU’s interest.
This comes as Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has long faced politically motivated pressure and baseless accusations from Western states.
