Araghchi: Iran and Japan must lead the global disarmament movement
Pars Today – The Iranian Foreign Minister on Saturday stated that Tehran and Tokyo "must lead a movement to eliminate weapons of mass destruction," and wrote that Donald Trump, the U.S. President's comments about comparing attacks on Iran and Japan went beyond a historical mistake and were, in fact, an insult.
In an article published in Asahi Shimbun and other Japanese media ahead of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, "Seyyed Abbas Araghchi" called on Tokyo to join Tehran in leading a global movement to eliminate weapons of mass destruction. The Iranian Foreign Minister wrote: "Iran and Japan must lead a global movement for the complete elimination of all weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons." Araghchi added that Iran, having been attacked with chemical weapons by Saddam’s Ba'ath regime during the 1980s imposed war, shares the pain and suffering of weapons of mass destruction with Japan.
