Pars Today – The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Saturday, as part of the first leg of his visit to Pakistan, visited the tomb of Allama Iqbal Lahori, the Persian-speaking poet of this country, in the capital of Punjab province, paying homage to this great Pakistani poet.

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in the historic city of Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, at the head of a high-ranking delegation during the first stage of his official visit to Pakistan. He was welcomed by Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab.

After visiting the tomb of Allama Iqbal Lahori, Pezeshkian also signed the memorial guestbook. Meetings with senior Pakistani officials and the signing of several cooperation agreements are on the agenda for the two-day visit of the Iranian President to Islamabad. This official visit is being conducted at the formal invitation of Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
