  • Al-Monitor: Gaza is Israel’s Vietnam

Pars Today – A specialized website reported on Monday that the situation of the Israeli regime in Gaza is similar to that of the United States in Vietnam.

In its analysis, Al-Monitor likened Israel’s current position in Gaza to the quagmire of the Vietnam War for the United States, stating: one senior Israeli security source, who wished to remain anonymous, told the outlet that Benjamin Netanyahu, the regime’s prime minister, is walking into a trap that Hamas had set in advance, while Yahya Sinwar, the former leader of Hamas, looks down on us with a smirk, sarcastically asking: “What will you do about guerrilla warfare?”

Al-Monitor, quoting the same senior Israeli security source, added: Tel Aviv has no advantage in guerrilla warfare and, along with internal divisions, is disintegrating from within, while its forces are being killed in Gaza.

The report went on to say that despite warnings from military leaders and the opinion of 71% of Israelis in favor of ending the war and reaching an agreement with Hamas, Netanyahu still insists on his plan to expand the occupation of Gaza.

Al-Monitor noted that Netanyahu now finds himself without a roadmap, and although Hamas no longer has the same organization and efficiency as before, it still remains a dangerous guerrilla force.
