Pars Today – The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Tuesday that the Core Consumer Price Index (Core CPI) for July 2025 increased by 0.3% month-on-month and 3.1% year-on-year, marking the fastest growth in the past five months.

The Core CPI, which excludes food and energy price fluctuations, reflects rising price pressures in goods and services. Although overall inflation remained at 2.7% year-on-year, with a monthly increase of 0.2%, the rise in the Core CPI is seen as a warning sign.

The New York Times reported that the new import tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration—applied from early August on goods imported from Canada, the European Union, Japan, and many other countries—will be a significant factor driving Core CPI higher in the coming months. The newspaper further noted growing concerns about the impact of this trend on Federal Reserve monetary policy. The U.S. central bank has so far kept interest rates steady, waiting to assess the full effects of the tariffs and other economic policies of the Trump administration.
