According to Iran Press, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi visited the Iran-Iraq border in Shalamcheh on Monday to supervise the situation of the commute of Arba’een pilgrims closely.
Arba’een, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the third Shias’ Imam.
Each year, a huge crowd of people flock to the holy city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is located, to perform mourning rites.
