President Raeisi lauds Iran’s junior volleyballers on Asian championship
Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi congratulated the country’s volleyball players on winning the title in the 2023 Asian Men’s U-16 Volleyball Championship.
According to Tasnim news agency, in a message on Sunday, President Raeisi extended his congratulations to all Iranians and expressed appreciation to the Iranian Men's U-16 National Volleyball Team for winning the championship in Uzbekistan.
The president hailed the glorious victory as a testimony to the competence of the young Iranian athletes who have a promising successful future.
He also thanked the coaches and related officials for their strenuous efforts and wished success for Iranian youths in all international arenas.
In the final match of the games in Tashkent on Saturday, Iran defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 to win the title.
The competition served as the Asian qualification tournament for next year’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-17 World Championship.
The Iranian boys defeated Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan (two times) in the competition.
Iran, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei qualified for next year’s world championship.
