Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has discussed further expansion of bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments with his Qatari and Omani counterparts.

According to Press TV, in a Saturday phone call with Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Iran's top diplomat highlighted the friendly relations between Tehran and Doha, calling for further expansion of bilateral ties.

Amir-Abdollahian also commended the positive role played by the government of Qatar in the process of releasing Iran's frozen assets, and the constructive efforts made by high-ranking Qatari officials with regard to regional and international developments.

On August 10, Iran said it had managed to secure the release of more than 10 billion dollars worth of funds that were illegally blocked in South Korea and Iraq for several years because of US sanctions.

An unnamed source told IRNA that the funds in South Korea had already been changed into euro in a bank in Switzerland and were ready to be transferred to an account in the Central Bank of Qatar as agreed under a deal with the US.

The Qatari foreign minister, who also serves as his country’s prime minister, lauded cordial relations between the governments of Iran and Qatar, stressing the necessity for further strengthening of Tehran-Doha relations.

In a separate phone call also on Saturday, Amir-Abdollahian talked to his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, discussing with him issues of interest on bilateral, regional and international levels.

The Iranian foreign minister declared Tehran’s readiness to finalize the contents of the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation agreement.

He also praised the constructive efforts made by Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, discussing the latest developments in Iran's sanctions removal talks with his Omani counterpart.

Albusaidi, for his part, declared his country’s readiness to further expand bilateral relations and regional cooperation with Iran.

He added that Oman is ready to continue to play a constructive role in issues of interest to both countries.
